Privacy Code, an industry code approved under the Privacy Act. The aim of the
code is to ensure the protection of personal information held by us.
Personal information is information or an opinion about an individual whose
identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained from the information
provided. We hold only that personal information necessary for us to assess
and manage your general insurance policy, including any claim that may be made
under that policy.
When processing your application for insurance, personal details are collected
such as name and address and details of the property being insured. If necessary,
details of your finances or the names of other people who are covered under
the policy will also be collected. These individuals may include other drivers
of the vehicle, your partners in business or travelling companions.
We may pass this information on to your insurers and our agents or contractors
such as loss adjusters, risk managers and others who may be involved in handling
your insurance requirements or claims.
If you do not provide the requested information, your proposal may not be
accepted, we may not be able to administer your policy and you may be in breach
of your duty of disclosure.
Our aim is to always have accurate and up to date information. When you receive
policy schedules, renewal notices, or other documents from us, you should contact
us if the information is incorrect.
As part of our ongoing service to you, we will be keeping you up to date with
the latest insurance products, advice on financial services, risk management,
premium funding and other areas that are likely to be of interest to you. If
you do not wish to receive from us any of this important information, you may
write to us and request that we take you off our mailing list. If we do not
get such a request from you in writing, we will continue to keep you informed.
